The caves of Beni Hassan have, in short, preservedthe best, and in many cases, the only information we possess, ofthe manners, pursuits, and customs of the extraordinary people,who lived and flourished here, ages ago. It is indeed wonderfulto see these generations, after a slumber of three or four thousandyears, by the aid of these delineations, seeming to rise up in theirgraves, and thus in the house of death, to engage in the variousoccupations, pleasures, and amusements, which occupied them inlife!.
