The Royal Albert Bridge across the River Tamar, Plymouth, Devon, England, UK

The Royal Albert Bridge is a single-track railway bridge taking the Cornish Main Line across the River Tamar between Devon and Cornwall. It was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and constructed between 1854 and 1859. Opened by Prince Albert on 2nd May 1859, this novel structure consisting of two large lenticular wrought iron trusses (each 455 feet long), is a fitting tribute to Brunel who died on 15th September 1859, just a few months after its opening.
