According to Chinese mythology, the priest Hsuan Chuang, known as the Master, traveled with the Sun, the Monkey god, and they came to the Country That Exterminates Religion. Sun then stole some clothing and turbans from the inhabitants for the Master and his companions to wear—the incident is pictured in this illustration dating to about 1922.
