The industry has been veryprofitable and the product is manytimes laro-er than when the com-pany was organized. It makesa specialty of the manufacture ofpatent cordage employed in boring artesian wells. The buildings, nine innumber, cover an area of four acres, located within the square boundedby Court, Park, Ash, and Kempton streets, and about two hundredfifty hands are employed. The machinery is operated by a superiorsteam engine of five hundred horse power and the company hasadopted all the latest improvements which give promise of perfectingthe product. The Oneko mill is situated tit the head of Purchase street andladies all wool dress goods, broadcloths, tricots, cheviots, and fanciesare manufactured here. The corporation was organized in 1882, with a capital of $210,000and the mill was started the following year.
