This carriage arm has an inward exten-sion carrying a spring bearing against the upper edge ofthe carriage side frame. The engagement of this springwith the upper edge of this frame retains the carriage armfrictionally in the position to which it may be moved. The wire is supplied from a bobbin carried by an exten-sion of the base plate of the carriage. This extension islocated on the side of the machine opposite to the side onwhich the arm is pivoted.
