FRED BOEKEN Assistant Superintendent of theMunicipal Railways FRED BOEKEX, Assistant Su-perintendent of the MunicipalRailway system, was born nearPeoria, Illinois, in 1873, his parentsmoving to Kansas in 1879, where heorew to manhood on the familyfarm. He was educated in the pub-lic schools, and in 1896 came to SanFrancisco. He was given employ-ment as gripman on the MarketStreet Cable Railway, and in 1900became inspector with the GearyStreet. Park and Ocean 1906 he was made AssistantSuperintendent of the line. In December, 1912, Air. Boekenwas appointed Assistant Superin-tendent of the Municipal Railwayunder Superintendent Thomas A.
