In 1519, he was one of the most trustedcaptains of Cortez in his invasion of Mex-ico, and fought in many of the battles ofthe Conquest. He remained in the New World that hehad helped to discover and conquer, holdingpositions of high honor, and distinguishedabove his military compeers for justice andmercy.
