Burg Landskron - Remains of Landskron Castle on the top of a 676 m high hill, Villach, Kärnten Austria

Built In the 16th century on the foundation walls of an older 14th century fortress. In the Middle Ages, it was one of the Hapsburgs´ bulwarks in Carinthia. A great part of the castle was destroyed by a fire in the 19th century. The view from the castle is wonderful. Visitors can see Vilach and the valley of the river Drau, the Ossiacher-Lake, the Kanzelhöhe Mountain and the Slovenian Alps on the other side of the valley. Since 1953 there is a first-class cafe-restaurant which hosts "medieval" dinner served by waiters dressed in period costumes.
