Some of the B-29s which have attacked industrial areas in the Japanese home islands rest at a base in the Marianas Islands in the central Pacific. Ground crews are at work on the giant planes of the 21st US Bomber Command, near tents used to house ground crews and repair shops. After 300 plane armardas of B-29s made five attacks on four of Japan's leading industrial centers during March, 1945, another large Superfortress fleet launched an attack April 3, on three industrial cities near Tokyo, the Japanese capital. Twoof the targets were in the city area and the third was at Shizuoka, 80 miles (128 KM) to the southwest. The multiple objectives in the attack were enemy industrial plants, which were hit principally with demoltion bombs.' ,
