Gradus. A new English variety of the wrinkled peas. It is very hardy, so much so, that, unlike most of its type, it can be planted extremely early. The vine grows about 2l/2 feet high, is vigorous and very productive. The pods are large and well filled with good sized peas, 7 to 9 usually in a pod. The Gradus is the earliest wrinkled pea in culti- vation and one of the most delicious in quality, which, combined with its hardiness and produc- tiveness, cannot fail to commend it to all lovers of fine peas. Those who grew it last year give it the highest praise. Pkt. 15c, pt. 40c, qt. 70c, pk. $ Gregory's Surprise. This new, extra early wrinkled pea is a cross between Laxton's Earliest of All and American Wonder. It is as early as the earli- est of the hard peas, and as heavy a cropper, while at the same time it possesses that peculiar sweet- ness which belongs to the wrinkled varieties. The Surprise grows about 20 inches high on rich gar- den soil, and ripens very early. Like most of the very early peas it succeeds best when sown quite thickly. Pkt. 10c, pt. 25c, qt. 45c, pk. $, bu. $ Nott's Excelsior. This excellent dwarf wrinkled Extra Early Pea is robust and vigorous, in- clined to throw out laterals at the base of the haulm, and produces in profu- sion long, handsome pods, closely packed with large peas of fine flavor. The pods are fully one- third larger than the American Wonder, containing six to eight fine large peas, a decided acquisi- tion and very pop- ular. Pkt. 10c, pt. 25c, qt. 40c, pk. $, "bu. $ American Wonder. An early wrinkled pea, very popular. Of dwarf habit, growing from nine to twelve inches high, and producing a profusion of good sized and well filled pods of the finest flavor. 10c, pt. 25c, qt. 45c, pk. $,
