Zingiberaceae; a plant, which is indigenous in the East Indies. It is commonly white, sometimes pale yellow ; less crepitating between the fingers than the best West India arrowroot; more frequently mixed with impurities, and composed of larger granules, which are unequal in size, egg-shaped, compressed, often with a very short neck or nipple-like projection.
