T. D. e/¥/ CARNATIONS cut so closely for Christmas. There were lots of the usual holiday entertainments going on, but not many flowers were used. The greens and other things used at Christmas took the place of flowers. Everyone has had a chance to com- pare the year's business with that of 1919, and in every case they report better business, some reporting a sur- prising increase. One thing about the recently completed year's business was the smoothness and dispatch with which it was conducted. There seemed to be no particular rush at any time. This was caused by everyone having plenty of stock for all orders, and ideal weather conditions. Cemetery work ran away beyond previous years, and a large in- crease was noted in the plant trade. Roses last week, while the supply was limited, were in quantity enough to sup- ply the demand, and the quality was as fine as ever seen on this market. Carna- tions were in short supply, but in this case also there were enough for the de- mand. Sweet peas, which have been short so far this season, are now in much better supply. Violets con- tinue to be scarce. The few that are finding their way to the market are of fine quality. Lilies are scarce; there is hardly any local stock, and what is on the market cleans up fast. Paper Whites are still plentiful and great quantities are being used. Green goods con- tinue plentiful and can be had in any quantities desired.
