Presentation of Ani to Osiris
This scene is from a scroll found in the tomb of an ancient Egyptian named Ani (pictured far left) an official at court during the 19th Dynasty (New Kingdom). The scroll had hymns, prayers, and spells (the so-called Book of the Dead) to help Ani make a successful crossing to the next life. Holding Ani's hand is Horus, the son of the deities Isis and Osiris. Horus is presenting Ani to Osiris, the god of the dead and the underworld.
