DNA nucleotides, computer artwork. Section of a double stranded DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) molecule showing the molecular structure of guanine (G) and cytosine (C) bonded together. DNA is composed of two strands twisted into a double helix. Each strand consists of a sugar-phosphate backbone (far left and right) attached to nucleotide bases (centre left and right). There are four bases: adenine, thymine, guanine and cytosine, which join together with hydrogen bonds (centre). Thymine always pairs with adenine, and guanine always with cytosine. For the labelled diagram see image: C008/8701.
