Young woman belonging to the Agaw people. She is standing in front of the house she is renting with two other families.

Originally, the Agaw are farmers living in different parts of the Ethiopian highlands. This young woman is hailing from the Sekota region. Because of the drought, she and her family have left their home to come to Mekele ( the capital of the Tigray state) for doing menial jobs or begging. They rent the house behind ( roughly 2 euros per month) with two other families. Despite being orthodox christians, Agaw who have migrated to Mekele are despised by the local population ( mainly orthodox christians) because they are very poor, illiterate and dirty.
