A White-crowned Forktail (Enicurus leschenaulti) standing by a shallow stream in the forest in North East Thailand
The White-crowned Forktail (Enicurus leschenaulti) is a species of forktail in the family Muscicapidae. It is the largest of the Forktails maeasuring from 25 to 28 cm in length. It is a shy bird, and stays near water foraging on the edges of rivers and streams for invertebrates. It has quite a wide geographic distribution and is found in China, Southeast Asia and also in northeastern parts of the Indian subcontinent. Two subspecies occur in Thailand and this is ssp indicus found in the northern part of the country.
