Japanese haiku poet & nun Kaga no Chiyo, while studying Zen under Bukko of Engaku, failed for a long time to reap the fruits of meditation. One night, while carrying water in an old bucket, the bottom of the bucket came off. At that moment she was released and wrote "In every way I tried to keep the old bucket / For the bamboo strip was weakening and was about to break / Until, finally, the bottom it has fallen. / There is no more water in the bucket! / There is no more moon in the water!"
