Oxford, Oxfordshire, UK - 2010; Just adjacent to Oxford Castle lies the Mound, one of the oldest parts of Oxford. It is the remains of a Norman Motte and Bailey fortified defence emplacement guarding the castle. More up to date, on the right, is the tower of Nuffield College. This is one of the newest colleges of Oxford University, having been founded in 1937; it is also one of the smallest, with around 75 postgraduate students and 60 academic fellows. Its architecture is designed to conform to the traditional college layout and its modernist spire is a landmark for those approaching Oxford from the west.
