There was nothing remarkable inthem except some fine old fire-places. Hang-ing on the walls of the various rooms were anumber of paintings and, although the guidemumbled the names of several great artists,they impressed me as being a lot of poorcopies. In the chapel there was some elab-orate old wood carving, but even that didnot look as though it was first-class were then led across the court to a smalldoor and told we could enter and ascend tothe roof of the large, square tower, but ourguide wa
