The Royal Navy during the Second World War- the Campaign in Normandy, July 1944 The damaged starboard propeller shaft of HMS FURY after she had been mined and driven ashore in a gale off the beachhead at Arromanches. The shaft was bent in the pounding received when the destroyer ran aground. The propeller end shaft had to be burned off.
