Metal sign shows a medieval baker tending his bread oven in the hamlet of Urval, Dordogne, France. The hamlet has a communal oven dating to the C15th. The feudal lord of Urval would only allow his oven to be used to bake bread and charged the rest of the population to use it. It is known as a "Four Banal" He also owned the local mill and, again, charged the locals to use it or to buy his flour. ("Moulin Banal")
