The Black Bull pub in Etal the most Northerly thatched pub in England, Etal is now a quiet Northumberland village one of the few with thatched homes as well as the pub, it was a relatively important place during the Border wars between England and Scotland and fell to King James IV of Scotland shortly before the massive defeat of the Scottish where the English were triumphant at the Battle of Flodden in 1513.
