Richard Henry "R. H." Tawney (30 November 1880 – 16 January 1962) was an English economic historian, social critic, ethical socialist and Christian socialist. Sir Syed Ahmad Khan (7 October 1817 – 27 March 1898) was an Indian Muslim pragmatist, Islamic modernist, philosopher and social activist of nineteenth century India. He worked for the British East India Company and was one of the founders of the Aligarh Muslim University.
