Y., is now making what it calls itsIdeal sharpener for operation either by hand or machine is adapted for filing small band saws, rangingin size up to and including saws with teeth y2 in. from toothpoint to tooth point and i}4 ins. width of blade. The visewhich carries the saw is clamped together by spring pres-sure sufficient to hold the saw firmly, yet allowing it to beslipped through as each tooth is filed. At each revolutionof the file shaft, the file is automatically withdrawn fromengagement with a tooth, dropped back, and just as the smooth portion of its circumference reaches the saw, itshoves the saw along for the next tooth. The amount ofthis movement is regulated according to the size of thesaw tooth by a thumb screw. The file is controlled by camsto only cut a certain depth each time, and this featurealways insures accurate and even teeth.
