It is minor in tonality and laclcs the seventh and second tones of the complete octave. Two accidentals occur, the sixth and third raised a semitone, both of which are clearly given in the two recorded renditions of the song. The intonation was good throughout the renditions, the semitone progression, which appears six times, being well given. The tonic chord is prominent in the formation of the melody, though the accented tones are such that the song is classified as melodic in Please note that these images are extracted from scanned page images that may have been digitally enhanced for readability - coloration and appearance of these illustrations may not perfectly resemble the original Smithsonian Institution.
