Carbon dioxide and climate change, conceptual artwork. This image, of rising bubbles of CO2, represents the contribution that carbon dioxide makes to man-made global warming and climate change. Also known as anthropogenic global warming (AGW), this warming of the Earth is due to the increase in the atmospheric levels of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. It is thought that the main increases in carbon dioxide are due to the burning of fossil fuels for energy.
