Our sub-ject is a native of Allegany County, N. Y., bornDec. 12, 1830. He is a son of Vernon and LucyHubbell, natives respectively of Connecticut andNew York. His paternal ancestry is supposed to beof Scotch-Welsh origin, and on his mothers side heis supposed to be a descendant of , and some of his mothers relatives tookan active jiart in the War of 1812.
