To the rudeness, barbarity and ignoranceof the people, the ordinary lot of every Apostle,was also to be added the still more formidable im-pediments—the rude and inhospitable nature ofthe country, to which is to be attributed the fail-ure of so many and such important expeditionsundertaken by Government and private specula-.
