Ben Webster born Kansas, Missouri 27 March 1909. After first learning the violin he learned the piano and played for silent movies. He learned alto-sax. from Budd Johnson & Lester Young and worked his way through many joined Duke Ellington where he produced 'All Too Soon', and 'Cottontail'. Johnn Hodges was an influence and he took to the tenor-sax. He later started to lead his own groups. He re-joined the Duke for a year in 1944 and later joined Jazz at the great recordings were 'The Soul of Ben Webster', 'Ben Webster and Oscar Peterson' and 'See You at the Fair'. He left JATP because he didn't like lived out his life in Europe recording in Sweden and living in Amsterdam. He died 20 Sep. 1973.
