The color is a combination of red, brown and white markings, with white predominating as a color fad. The size of the Ayrshire is about medium and at maturity standard weights will approximate 1,500 pounds for the bull and 1,100 for the cows. This is recognized as a distinct dairy type breed, but the inclination is to be a trifle smooth-fleshed rather than angular like the Jersey. The very striking.
