Kaj Harald Leininger Munk commonly called Kaj Munk (1898-1944) born Petersen in Maribo on the island of Lolland (south of Sealand) in Denmark, due to the death of his parents when he was three he was raised by the Munk family, the family of his mother's cousin, hence he took the name Munk. The statue is on the square in Maribo on the island Lolland, Denmark. Kaj Munk was a Lutheran pastor in Vedersø in Jutland and stood up against the Nazis in his written plays and his speeches, he was shot by the Gestapo on 4th January 1944.
