Yanhuitlan, Oaxaca, Mexico - Julio Miguel Ramírez talks with visitors about his work to restore the eroded landscape around his home. He uses various materials, including plastic bottles, to rebuild the terraces that the indigenous Mixtec population used in farming hillsides. Those terraces fell into disrepair after the Spanish conquest in the 16th century killed 80-90% of the population. The resulting erosion, can be seen on the hill in the background.
