LUNG EPITHELIUM, SEM
The bronchi are lined by a semi-rigid envelope covered with a ciliated mucosa. Cilia are vibratile hair-like structures arising from the epithelium which evacuate extraneous particles. The epithelium and mucosa constitute a barrier protecting the lung.
