(9) Safety at sea is greatly increased thrcugh Loran, and in case of dis- aster, rescue operations are direct. A minimum of time is lost in searching for disabled vessels when the Loran position is included in the distress message. The increase in safety at sea will probably be reflected in reduced msurance premiums as the application of Loran becomes more widespread.
