A baby receives its first kiss from its mother after it has just been born in water, waterbirth. The cheesy waxy substance on the newborn is called, Vernix Caseosa Coating, it is to protect the skin of the fetus in the uterus from long exposure to the amniotic fluid. This is the second baby born to this woman in water, waterbirth, and both times have been a positive experience for both the mother and baby.
