We are often asked for information re- garding the planting and subsequent care o- shrubs. Briefly, we recommend a good garden soil, well enriched with decayed barnyard manure. An open bed or bord?r iooni on the growth of the preceding year should be done after flowering so as not to sacrifice the flowers for that season. Shrubs which bloom on wood of the current year's growth should be pruned early in spring. In pruning, aim to maintain a graceful form, free from stiffness, formality or a shorn effect. A little care and practice will produce the desired results. AILANTHUSâTree of Heaven. GlaniliiloNaâAn exceedingly attractive plant of rapid, stately growth, with pinnate, feathery foliage, giving it a tropical appearance, very efl:ective in shrubbery plantations, for â «-hich purpose it should be severely pruned every year or t'wo.
