The Liberation of Bergen-belsen Concentration Camp, May 1945 Jewish camp inmates hold an open air service to celebrate the Jewish Summer Festival of Thanksgiving. The service was led by Rev Leslie H Hardman, Senior Jewish Chaplain to the British 2nd Army, and former camp inmates, Rabbi H Helfgott of Jugoslovia and Rabbi B Goldfinger of Poland. Behind the open air altar internees hold up a tapestry originally owned by the Jewish community in Sicily, which was brought into the camp and hidden by internees until liberation.
