Dhaka, Bangladesh. Bangladesh has suffered flood every year due to devastating monsoon rain, flash-flood and increase in world temperature as the snowmelt from the Himalayas. Increases the flood risks as torrents of melted ice enter the rivers at their source and inundate portion of Bangladesh almost every year. Bangladesh has 57 trans-boundary rivers. Most parts of this country are less than 12 m above the sea level, and it is believed that about 10% of the land would be flooded if the sea level were to rise by 1 m. Bangladesh is one of the most flood-prone countries in the world. Approximately 20 to 25% of the country’s territory is inundated during the monsoon season. Millions of people are affected and many killed during the flood in this country.
