Self-assembly of a capsid or virion (a virus particle). A virus is a submicroscopic infectious agent that replicates only inside the living cells of an organism. Inside the cell, viruses exist in the form of independent components ( protein, genetic material etc), The capsid (as depicted) is a protein coat which surrounds and protects the genetic material of the virus.
