The Theatine Church was originally built in the Italian high-baroque style from 1663 to 1690. The Feldherrnhalle ('Field Marshals' Hall') was built between 1841 and 1844 as a symbol of the honours of the Bavarian Army. The architect was Friedrich von Gaertner.
