St Melangell's C12th church, Cwm Pennant: built on reputed site of nunnery founded by C7th Irish princess on land granted to her by Brochwel, prince of Powys. According to her legend, Melangell came to the Tanat valley seeking religious solitude. She magically protected a hunted hare from Brochwel, prince of Powys, who granted her land to found a nunnery. The Norman church stands within an earlier circular churchyard.
