The Berlin Social Court has been located on Invalidenstrasse since 1968. The court occupies a building, constructed in 1874 in the neo-Renaissance style, which was originally the administrative headquarters of the Berlin-Hamburg Railway Company, near the company's Hamburger Bahnhof, now occupied by the Museum of Contemporary Art. In the days of the Berlin Wall, the Invalidenstrasse Border Crossing, for West Berliners only, was located a few metres away on Invalidenstrasse.
