Chinensis and its varieties may be considered the most beautiful and effective of our hc?rdy Annuals; the double and single varieties, with their rich and varied colors in beds or masses* are remarkably attractive ; while the recently introduced varieties, with their large, richly colored flowers, close, compact habit, and profusion of bloom, are unsurpassed for effectiveness in beds or mixed borders. Seed may be sovrn in Spring under glass or in a hot bed. Chinensis {China or Indiafi Pink)^ single, many colors mixed, showy, — fl. pi., a splendid mixture, producing a large proportion of double flowers, Heddewigii, color varies from the richest velvety crimson to the most delicate rose, a magnificent variety; i ft., . — fl. pi., double variety of the preceding, very showy: i ft., Pkt. — diadematus fl. pL, of dwarf, compact habit, of various tints of rose, maroon, and purple, one of the best of its species; i ft., . — laciniatus, beautifully fringed, finest colors mixed; i ft. — fl. pi., a double variety of the preceding, in splendid colors; i ft., DAHLIA—Single.
