Ama Dablam is a mountain in the eastern Himalayan range of Province No. 1, Nepal. The main peak is 6,812 metres, the lower western peak is 6,170 metres. Snowy mountain named for its resemblance to a mother protecting child, for climbs & nearby Dablam means "mother's necklace", the long ridges on each side resembling the arms of a mother protecting her side and the Hanging Glacier, believed to be the dablam, the traditional pendant containing images of the gods, worn by Sherpa women.
