Slash and burn technique is often carried out in Tropical Rainforests, which are the habitat of vast variety of flora and fauna including endangered species.

Slash and burn is a method of farming whereby the natural vegetation such as forests are cut down and burned as a method of clearing the land for cultivation. After a period of years the land becomes infertile and the farmer moves on to clear more forest Traditionally, the area was left to rejuvenate. Now however, cleared areas were typically maintained in a permanent state of deforestation which in turn impacts on the environment.
