Cigarette card with illustration of the Macchi-Casoldi 72 racer. The Italian Fiat-powered float seaplane set a world speed record of over 440 mph in 1934. The pilot was Lieut Francesco Agello. The card was part of an old set of cigarette cards from WD and HO Wills, Bristol and London. The set is entitled 'Speed'. These cards were given away singly in packets of cigarettes in 1938. They were (and are still) popular collector's items - vintage nineteen thirties graphics for editorial use only.
