"Yellow labour in South Africa". Postcard from the 1906 general election campaign in Britain, using racist language against Chinese workers. It includes images of British soldiers fighting in the Boer War & a quote from a Joseph Chamberlain speech at Cannock Chase in 1900 ("This is a miners' war"). One of the issues during the 1906 election was the employment of indentured Chinese workers in South African mines after the end of the Boer War, instead of the work going to British labourers (as proposed during the war). Controversy over the issue contributed to the Conservative election loss
