Santa Maddalena, also known as St Magdalena, is a village in the administrative district of Funes in the province of Bolzano. Lying at the head of the Funes Valley, one of the most beautiful in the Dolomites, Santa Maddalena is overlooked by the massive peaks of the Parco Naturale Puez-Odle, of which Sas Rigais, at 3025 metres, is the highest. The Odle crest is particularly impressive at sunset, when the peaks take on a pinkish glow, known as the "Enrosadira".
