Late afternoon view, towards Union Island, father and son kneeling fishing rod, Hillsborough Jetty, Carriacou, West Indies
At 34 square kilometres (13 square miles) and 16 mile long, Carriacou is the largest island of the Grenadines. The climate is tropical and the hilly terrain slopes to white beaches. There are no rivers and local residents rely on rainwater for their water supply. Boat-building, fishing and sea-faring feature in the local economy. Ferry boats from Grenada dock at the jetty, in the foreground, at Hillsborough, the largest settlement. A view from the end of the jetty, looking north.
