A hi; and our good friend wasordered to the hospital. It really distressed me, to see himpreparing to leave. The idea of going to a pest-house, andamong those who are covered with scabs, and putrid sores,was evidently alarming to Mr. Belt, himself; but he made noobjection, and left us with the sympathies of all in the apart-ment. It is pleasant to know, that the disease has nearly hadits course; and that he is now able to walk about. We sin-cerely hope that he will soon be Mell. How many weary nightshave I had, since my imprisonment, with these pestiferous in-sects ; and who will ever know, how much I have suffered,from this one source alone ! Hoy, the man who refused, yesterday, to adopt the con-victs badge, was again paraded around the Fort yard with abarrel over his head, and a placard upon the side of it, in-scribed,—For Insubordination.
